from a rooftop view somewhere in Freetown Sierra-Leone

i took these photographs a couple of weeks ago when i went to visit a friend at her apartment. The view from her home is stunning, her space minimal with a very heritage apartment feel which reminded me of my previous apartment in Vancouver, minus the view. As i blog from Country Lodge, i can't help but wonder what the week ahead with bring. All i know for sure is that i need to start walking the walk and put the talking to a screeching halt. God cannot continue to teach me lessons i should have learned the first time around. So for thefatoublog readers out their somewhere in cyber space and beyond, i bid you a week of embracing gratitude and momentous living  (meaning, living only for and in the moment) and thank you....for visiting  yet another blog in the wild wild world of the world.wide.web.
enjoy the photographs from a rooftop view somewhere in Freetown Sierra-Leone.

OH MY JAH-ITS CREATIVE COLLECTIVE - RAW

last friday evening (april 20th) was an evening on its on, super special to me because along side two beautiful men (abdala & ahmad) we were able to put together a creative evening. It consisted of live music, pop, poetry, prose, humor, jazz, reggae- all sprinkled with a little soul at the beautiful restaurant Bliss. With 150+ at the event, it was packed at all times during the evening, food was being pass around, drinks ordered, art shared, and of course a rack with her latest collection, AMIZO of MARYZO DESIGNS graced us and dressed 3 of the artists who performed that evening. By the end of the night, i was happily exhausted. This is what we are aiming for, to gestate an artistic community rooted in integrity and accountability and most importantly the simple love of sharing their art with the rest of the world. It is healing, really healing i believe. In valuable lessons learned first time around and i look forward to where PART DEUX will take us.
ps- the photographs are curtsy of someone's iphone *bless their heart*

a sunday kind of love

Luam Kidane introduced me to this particular Etta James song, A Sunday kind of Love. I remember instantly falling in love with it. For weeks, i would welcome Sunday in with Ms. James blasting, allowing her voice to color my little downtown Vancouver apartment. As a woman slightly disillusioned by love, this song was nostalgic as i secretly yearned for a love....
 to last past Saturday night
And I’d like to know
It’s more than love at first sight
And I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yeah, yeah
RIP MS.JAMES.
